Orquesta Aragon: The Cubanísima
It is difficult to choose an album among the many recordings of the most famous charanga Cuba. Visit our article on Aragon, you will find that we have counted over 150 album covers of this orchestra.
The album "Cubanísima" is a compilation of the many existing in what Cristóbal Díaz Ayala-called "sonic arsenal" of Orquesta Aragón. The cover above is one of many existing pockets of that compilation.

El Bodeguero version is not the most widely distributed, not the best known, but a sort of "second version" of what is broadcast may be the most emblematic piece of Aragon (perhaps the most famous all cha-cha-cha ever written). This version appears in a few other albums of the orchestra.
This CD does not have much songs-"child" as recorded in the Aragón much, except "the Jamaican."
Orquesta América del 55: Charanga ¡!
La Orquesta América was the number one charanga in Cuba at the beginning of the era of cha-cha-cha before the Aragón not to supplant it. On disk are included both the Orquesta Estrellas Cubanas and America.
The re-release of this compilation from 1961 is the second time in America, after the quarrel and separation from Enrique and Ninon Mondejar Jorrín, and after he had renamed the group "América del 55". As for
Estrellas Cubanas, this is the charanga of José Fajardo and renamed by the violinist Felix Reina after leaving fajardo USA.
Most pieces had already séparément été à enregistrer since 1957 in 78 tours, 33 tours l'apparition du ou "Long Play" à Cuba in 1950 détrôner n'ayant pas permis de tout de suite l'ancien format.

The family of Cuban musicians Rubalcaba has two celebrities, both pianists Gonzalo, world star jazz, and Guillermo, appearing as pianist second team behind Buena Vista Social Club, Rubén González.
In fact, the musical history of the family dates back to Jacobo Rubalcaba Rubalcaba Gonzalez, the great-grandfather, born in 1895, from Sagua La Grande, trombonist, trumpeter and composer of El Cadete Constitucional danzón.
Among its most famous son: Jose Antonio Rubalcaba, Director of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Pinar del Rio, et Guillermo Rubalcaba, Director of Typical Charanga du Ministère de la Culture, puis Charanga Rubalcaba the ship is in 1962.
fils des deux autres sont également célèbre Guillermo Jesus, pianiste, et William, bass.

Flutist on this disc is Jacinto Joaquín Oliveros, "jilguero El Centro Habana", which has recently recorded several CDs for the label Camajan. The guest is singer
Raúl Planas, one of the stars of the Buena Vista Social Club, who sings on six tracks.
"Liceo del Pilar" is a rather special danzón instrumental whose theme is very long, and where the "mambo", very short, only occurs very late in the piece. Some versions of this do not danzón mambo.
Jose Fajardo:
danzones Completos Para Bailar Instrumental vol.2
Jose Fajardo is here at the top of his art, in a recording of the classic danzones.
This musical genius that has unfortunately not produced good records, some of his American experiences that led him to record at least sloppy.

Estrella de La Charanga: Sones y danzones
This orchestra of Santiago de Cuba should not be confused with Charanga Estrellas Cubanas, which we have said above that it was After the orchestra of José Fajardo.
Nonetheless, their album is one of the best released in the last decade. La version est superbe et d'Almendra novatrice, avec certains accords dissonnants savoureux particulièrement au piano. Celle du danzón "Angoa" est du même acabit.

The Cuban Danzón - Its Ancestors and Descendents
(Folkways Records FE 04066 1982)
The orchestra, constituted at the initiative of the Instituto de Investigaciones Folklorica Musical (IMIF) was therefore known as La Orquesta Nacional Cubana Folklorica, then as La Charanga Típica Nacional de Concierto, led by pianist-musicologist Odilio Urfé . This group was formed to play both orchestrations "de viento" (or "tipica") and orchestrations like charanga (or "French": strings, flute and piano).
The 9th and 11th tracks were recorded in 1979, during the centenary celebrations du Danzon, l'année du 100e anniversaire of the naissance de José Urfé, et du 50e anniversaire du Danzonete.
Typical Charanga

The term "Onda Areito" is linked to the record companies of the same name, where all recorded charanga orchestras of "modern" in the 1970s (The 440, Maravillas de Florida, Original de Manzanillo, etc. ...) and whose Ritmo Oriental is an illustrious representative.
Rene Herrera: Cha-cha-cha para un Flautist
This recalls the great flutist of the past, Richard Egües or Fajardo. His latest album (2003) is in the classical style, and incorporates the classics, no - it is true - revisit beyond measure.
Member of the Havana Charanga All Stars since its inception in 2000, he worked with the orchestra Joséito Fernández Jr., Orquesta América, Orquesta Enrique Jorrín, and La Charanga Rubalcaba. The direction of his orchestra is provided by bassist Jorge Machado. Jesús Rubalcaba is on piano, Orestes Varona on congas, timbales Jesús Pérez, Humberto Legat and Ronny Cabarrocas the violins. Juan Hurtado, Gregorio Laza, José Lusson Pichi Valdés Jr. and provide the voices.
The piano solos are overflowing with exuberance a bit easy sometimes. A good album of charanga more prolific in the Envidia label.

Il s'agit d'un Recent album (2001) de La Ritmo Oriental qui, s'il n'illustre plus you style "Areito Onda" de l'Orchestre are succès qui a fait à la fin des années 1970, le Merite re-actualize the sound of the orchestra. The legendary rhythm

Director Enrique Lazaga has recruited two of his son, Enrique Lazaga Jr. on congas and timbales to Eduardo Lazaga. That said, the work of two percussionists is remarkable. The Ritmo now has a rhythmic Lazaga, with Father Enrique at güiro.
The CD contains a high number of boleros (Pensamiento, En el Tronco one Árbol La Gloria Eres Tú and the TARDIS, and a canción cubana, the famous Pablo Milanés Yolanda, always difficult to interpret with a dance band, visiblement ...

Abelardo Barroso and Sensation: Golden Oldies
Abelardo Barroso, chanteur de Son renommé between 1926 et 1940 (on her surnommé "Caruso") made a "comeback" in 1955 with the thundering Orquesta Sensación and the song "In Guantánamo," which opens cd drive. He demonstrated his talent as a sonero, a rarity in a charanga orchestra where the singers were not always highlighted.
Disappeared in 1972, Barroso ranks among the top ten singers from Cuba, with a reputation without shade and an exemplary attitude at all times in his career, leaving him a place e in the hearts of Cubans.
This compilation pays tribute to him, constituting one of its essential cds charanguera career.
